Office Staff Updates

  • We welcome Henry Terlep as our At-Risk Intervention Supervisor. He will work closely with our School and Community Engagement Facilitator, Beatriz Claas to ensure that all students are able to meet our behavioral expectations of kindness, safety, and responsibility and provide even more support to students, families, and staff, connecting our stakeholders to school and community resources.

For a staff list with detailed contact information, refer to our school website:

School and Community Engagement Facilitator (SCEF)

Bea Claas is Landels’ School and Community Engagement Facilitator.  As part of our school’s plan, the Facilitator is a staff member who will work to ensure that every student, family, and community member will feel valued and supported while working, learning, and partnering with our school.  Bea can be reached at the office, at (650) 526-3520, ext. 3404, and at

Construction Update

A summer of construction is coming to an end, and we are excited to welcome students and families back to school on Monday, Aug. 20. So much work has been done on our campus, and we are excited to have new facilities.

As with any construction project, there will be a few items that we'll be finishing up in the next few weeks. Thanks in advance for your patience as we finish up landscaping, painting touch-ups, cabinetry installation, and window coverings, to name a few.

We'll work hard to minimize any disruption to students and staff members. Thank you for your support!

Due to the construction, parking will be limited.  Please try to walk, bike or carpool to school.  Parking in the neighborhood behind Landels on Mercy Street or Eldora Drive is also an option.

School Site Council

We are actively seeking out members for the school site council for this year and we need parents to join in and have a voice.  I have included a brief description of the council and would love for as many of you to join in as possible.  We sent out a survey regarding time and day for our monthly meetings and per our survey results the meetings will be held on the first Monday of the month at 3:15 p.m.  Our first meeting will be held on Monday, September 10th.  Hope to see you there!

Purpose of meetings:  The school site council is a group of teachers, parents, and classified employees that works with the principal to develop, review and evaluate school improvement programs and school budgets.  Over the course of a year, a typical council might consider the goals of the school or district and then work with the principal to evaluate the school’s progress toward those goals.  We really appreciate the input of all members of our community including our parents.  It makes a cohesive partnership.

PTA Update

The Landels PTA would like to welcome back all of our families, as well as send a special warm welcome to all of the new friends joining our Landels family this year.

Landels PTA (Parent Teacher Association) is a group of caring parents who advocate for every student at our school. Through your generous support and fundraising efforts, the Landels PTA was able to fund over $90,000 worth of programming and events for our students last year. This money goes to pay for many things including technology, field trips, book fairs, assemblies, classroom enrichment, playground equipment and community events.  All these additions help provide a well-rounded education for our children. We hope you can join us at one of our many great events, socials, or at our first meeting on Wednesday, August 29 at 8:30 am in the staff lounge where you can find out more.

Please be on the lookout for your “Welcome Back Pack” during the first week of school. In your packet, you will find more information on what we do, how to donate, join and purchase Landels Spirit Wear. You will also find attached a handy Magnet Calendar with key dates for you to refer to throughout the school year. Please make sure to return the attached PTA waiver so your child can attend one of our many events!
